I Hope you Dance

Me Mimi
My story Mimi Well… what about me? Hahaha! That is always one of the hardest things to write about—yourself. But here goes…
I was born in what was then Rhodesia, during the days when Ian Smith ruled the country, which is now known as Zimbabwe. In 1970, my parents sent me to live with my grandmother in Rijswijk, near The Hague in the Netherlands.
I was only eleven years old and did not speak a word of Dutch. Thankfully, children learn quickly, and within about three months I had learned the basics of the language. Even now, after all these years, I still miss the African countryside. I miss “my” elephants, monkeys, baboons, lions, and so much more. Although the Netherlands is the place I call home, I still miss Africa—especially Zimbabwe and South Africa—so much that it sometimes brings tears to my eyes.
So, if you have been counting, yes… I am now sixty seven years young!
More importantly, I am a Child of God, a friend of Jesus, and a host of the Holy Spirit. I am the wife of Michel Bosman, mother of ten—well, technically five, but I received the other five through marriage, so they are just as much mine! We have four daughters and one son, and our son counts for four, so that makes everything perfectly balanced! 😄
God has richly blessed our family. We are grandparents to twenty-one wonderful grandchildren and great-grandparents to three precious great-grandsons. We also have exciting celebrations in our family: one granddaughter is engaged, and both a granddaughter and a grandson are already married.
I am the oldest of six children, with four younger brothers and one “little” sister who is not so little anymore.
“My husband and I have always had a heart for the Gospel and for sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Whether through ministry, writing, teaching, conversations, or simply living out our faith, our desire is to encourage people to grow in their relationship with God.”
We love to travel together, whether as a couple or with our family. We especially enjoy visiting places where we can encourage believers, share the Gospel, and support those who are hungry to learn more about God’s Word.
As for hobbies… anything creative immediately gets my attention!
I love spending quality time with my family and grandchildren—and believe me, you need plenty of creativity to keep up with them! I enjoy photography, digital scrapbooking (which saves a lot of space and mess), creating photo books, writing, drawing, designing, crafting, and many other creative pursuits.
I am also a certified makeup artist, stylist, and hair stylist. I love learning, reading, studying the Bible, and exploring the incredible treasures hidden within God’s Word.
And then there is one very important thing you should know about me…
I absolutely hate chocolate!
Not just eating it—I even dislike the smell of it. So if you have just enjoyed a delicious chocolate treat, please brush your teeth before coming to talk to me! Hahaha!
My prayer is that we will build a genuine relationship online and that this blog will feel like a home to you—a place where you can simply be yourself.
I pray that here you will find refreshment when you are weary, strength when you feel weak, restoration when life has wounded you, encouragement when you feel discouraged, and renewed hope when your faith needs lifting.
May this be a place where we learn from one another, grow together, and encourage one another in our walk with Christ.
My desire is that you will leave here lionhearted, ready to take simple steps each day to live gracefully, radiantly, and beautifully in the purpose God has for you.
Let us become who God created us to be, and let us encourage one another through the love of Christ Jesus to be the very best version of ourselves.
I would like to leave you with the thought behind one of my favourite songs, sung by Gladys Knight:
“I Hope You Dance.”
Its message reminds us to never lose our sense of wonder, to keep faith alive, to embrace the opportunities God places before us, and to choose courage over fear.
Life is a precious gift from God. There will be mountains to climb, valleys to walk through, joys to celebrate, and challenges to overcome. Yet through it all, may we never stop trusting Him.
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance…
I hope you dance.

God forbid His love ever leave you
